NYFW Recap

As Fashion Week has slowly come to an end, FORM is here to update with you a recap of each of the 4 cities' fashion weeks - starting with New York! Among hundreds of designers and trends this year, what were the biggest hits? What are the biggest trends? From clothing, to nails, beauty looks, and more....
Keep reading to find out!

Upcoming clothing trends...

1. As seen with Vanessa Seward, Chanel, and Ellery  velvet and bell sleeves, as well as fitted corset tops, are making their way back into modern fashion.

2. This combination of puffer jackets and evening wear is seen with Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Sacai. This look puts an extra spin on the ideal stigma of wearing a dressy trench coat for an evening out. Mixing casual and classy is a winner here.

3. Fashion doesn't stop at clothing, and this year, a twist on purse straps has included an embellished guitar strap, as shown by Burberry and Fendi.

4. Another big trend that we noticed was capelets, as seen above with Brandon Maxwell, Christian Dior, Burberry, and MSGM. For women who want that little bit of cover up, capelets provide that boxy cut while also maintaining that chic and feminine vibe!

5. Chokers, chokers, chokers! These are everywhere this season and we are loving them! As seen above with Lanvin, Loewe, Balmain, and Dries Van Noten, these major statement pieces really add that "Wow" factor into an outfit and are definitely a big hit for everyday-wearers as well.

6. Business suits??? Who wears those?? We do!! Sleek pinstripes are back in style, helping to slim every body type. Matching suit jacket and pants are made for more than just the average businesswoman, as seen with Trussardi, Calvin Klein, and Tibi.

7. One of our all time favorite trends, which is one that will forever be in style: hoodies. Comfort is key and now so is luxurious comfort  suitable for any type of weather, these hoodies by Each x Other, Lacoste, and Alexander Wang are perfect to throw over a t-shirt and wear with some jeans and booties or even sneakers.

8. Last, but not least, statement furs, as seen by Derek Lam, Fendi, and Oscar de la Renta, are a big staple in this year's wardrobe. Not only do they add warmth, but they also add texture to an outfit, especially when layering during the colder months!

Upcoming beauty trends...

 1. The trends in nail art this year seem to be split-dimensional nails. Whether the nail is split with a line in the center, bordered with a tip, or divided into two sections with varying colors. This two dimensional look is the new in.

2. Dark lips are the new craze  matte and voluptuous or shiny and sleek.. either gets the look done. These lips speak for themselves, no statement accessories needed!

3. To top off the last of the beauty trends, this minimalist and polished look comes in first. With the light and airy makeup, in addition to the polished braid or sleek ponytail, this is what NYFW featured on most models for several looks on varying designers.

Looking for wearability...?

Fear not! There are plenty of looks that are not only fashionable, but ALSO wearable for that everyday look. Ranging from casual to bohemian, NYFW provided it all. Below features...

1. Androgynous 90's sweatsuits, which feature crewnecks, hoodies, and loose sweatpants

 2. Reconstructed denim, adding texture and depth to every outfit - both casual and dressy

 3. Bohemian to the Nines, feeding off that "Coachella" vibe - loose floral patterns emphasizing the feminine look

4. Cut off jeans, which show off just enough skin and just enough leg also emphasizing those great kicks you have!

5. Off the shoulder tops, a great look for a nice, spring day, adding a feminine touch to an otherwise basic blouse

6. Saddle bags, the perfect addition to any outfit - easy to throw on before work or school and just the right size to carry all your essentials

7. Trench coats, a statement all on its own, easily paired with a simple t-shirt and jeans or a cut-off dress, you can't go wrong

8. Statement boots, adding that extra "oomph" that every outfit needs - boots with a striking print, with a heel, or even a shocking color

That's all for now... stay tuned for London Fashion Week recap next week!!!
