Milan Fashion Week 2016 Recap

Part 3 of FORM's 2016 Fashion Week recap and reviews is here with a recap of Milan Fashion Week! The Italian capital focused on eccentricity and its growing nature: taking on eye-shocking patterns, proportions, and lots and lots of color. With some fun themes as inspiration for designers, we are taking a step away from conformist and heading all the way to individualist for this Autumn/Winter 2016. Keep on reading... you know you want to!

Woah, Milan's got a lot in store . . .

1. Look-At-Me Prints

Prints came back onto the Milan catwalk this season with Missoni's combination of painterly, striped, and geometric styles. Most people, myself included, limit themselves to a neutral wardrobe. These eye catching patterns provided an optimistic and adventurous take on colored garments - making every outfit even more exciting.

2. Oversized Sleeves

The oversized sleeves really captured Milan's main focal point: strength and individualism. The exaggerated length on garments added to the eye-catching patterns, making each one look even more dramatic. Designer Missoni utilized much of this style for this upcoming season, however Les Copains is featured in the image above.

3. Fairy Tale Inspired

As FORM just recently made their trip to The Museum at F.I.T, this fairy tale inspired collection by Dolce & Gabbana brought back memories from the Fairy Tale Fashion exhibition. Adding a younger and more playful vibe to otherwise more serious clothing distinguished this designer apart from others.

4. Minimalist Individual

Apart from the dramatic patterns and styles of the pieces, the trend in terms of hair and makeup seems to be minimalist in comparison. Marni made use of crisp, loose waves and sultry, elegant makeup greatly compliment the busy wardrobe below.

5. Statement Jewelry

Marni utilized statement jewelry, especially in the form of earrings for this week's fashion trend. Giant pearls hanging from models' ears added length and depth to the face, making the bold colors on the outfits pop out as well.

. . . And there you have it!

Milan did it big, did it bold, and did it better this season from new themes of inspiration, to minimalistic makeup and hair, to shocking patterns. All of the designers are really stepping up their game to keep up creativity for Fashion Week!
