SUMMER '16 TRENDS - Women's Edition

Happy Summer! With summer officially in season, Rutgers FORM is excited to post about the hottest Summer '16 Trends, from accessories to clothing - we'll name it all. We will be starting this summer series with women's trends, but don't worry... men's edition will be out shortly. Everyone should be in the know when it comes to your own wardrobe, so keep reading to find out more...Enjoy!

1. Slip Dresses

Delicacy is key this summer. Everyone is wearing these beautiful, feminine pieces that just effortlessly drape the female figure. Not only are these pieces perfect for the summer time weather, but they are also perfect to be dressed down or dressed up.

2. Tops with puffy sleeves... preferably off-the-shoulder

These tops with puffy sleeves are everywhere, as shirts and dresses, this style is still as cute as can be. Pictured on the left is a dressed up version of the puffy sleeved shirt, tucked into clean and crisp high waisted white pants. Pictured on the right is a dressed down version of a puffy sleeved dress from Zara paired with some worn in white, high-top Converse.

3. Lace-up shoes...and shirts

Lace up shoes, lace up shirts, these are everywhere! This style is the perfect combination of sexy and classy, and great to be worn with any ensemble. Lace up shoes are perfect with a loose, floral top and scalloped shorts or worn casually with some ripped denim. Lace up shirts are the perfect compliment to denim high waisted shorts, and the shirts often come in the form of bodysuits.

4. Patches

Patches are the cutest acessory to add onto any outfit, especially when it comes to denim. Whether bought separately or made and ironed on, patches are totally in this summer. They add youth and spunk to every article of clothing, and we love them.

5. Platform sandals

Platforms - from wood to leather, these babies add just the right amount of height and ultimate comfort with the chunky platform heel. Unlike most heels, these shoes often utilize a flat platform to exaggerate those legs, ladies! Ranging in all colors, they are the ideal shoe to wear to work or even class. Platform sandals combine style with comfort, and who doesn't want that?

6. Oversized band tees 

Who says you need to be old school to rock vintage band tees? These are effortlessly paired with denim and sneakers and a low, messy bun. Easily thrown on after a long, summer day and comfortable enough to last the whole day in. Ranging in all colors and a multitude of bands to choose from, a girl can't go wrong with an oversized tee.

7. Chokers

Possibly one of my personal favorite trends this summer. Chokers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and are the perfect accessory for every outfit. They add just that bit of "oomph" and edge to your average get-up. Dainty or chunky, chokers are a big hit - get yours today.

8. LBB - Little Black Bikini

Sun's out, bums out! Bikini season is trending, and you can never go wrong with a LBB...little black bikini. Pictured above are three completely different takes on the classic black kini, perfect for whatever look you are going for this summer.

9. Light Bomber Jackets

Bomber jackets aren't only for fall and winter, they are a great piece for your wardrobe this summer too. Made with a silk fabric, these jackets are perfect for a light cover up in the blasting air conditioning. They come in a variety of colors with a variety of prints including floral as pictured on the left.

10. Sunkissed skin 

Last but not least...dewy, sunkissed skin is absolutely necessary this summer. Highlighters have made their way back into the makeup hemisphere and everyone cannot stop talking about them. Highlighting and bronzing up your skin with some light makeup really does the trick for that effortless "no makeup" makeup look. Perfect for the summer.
