London Style: Study Abroad Edition

Studying abroad in London for the semester had definitely given me the chance to gain exposure to
different fashion trends. European fashion is different- it’s trendy and hip and everyone seems like
they’re always ready for an important meeting. I definitely have gone on a couple shopping sprees
even with the limited space I have in my suitcase that needs to fit my entire life in London.

Going to class, I no longer pull out any sweatshirt and a pair of leggings. In fact, I don’t even wear
leggings to go to the grocery store that’s across the street from where I live. Here, leaving my dorm
means putting on jeans with pointed boots and a long peacoat. I’ve also noticed that Londoners love
skirts, and wearing a skirt with tights to go to school is not considered fancy. I have also been noticing
and loving fun pants lately. Throwing on a solid shirt with loose, bright pants and a jean jacket is such
a simple and easy look.

Since I’ve been here through the winter, I’ve had to learn how to dress smart. So far, I’ve been on
four trips to different countries around Europe and will be visiting four more before I return home.
Packing in a backpack for entire trips has shown me how to pack efficiently. I have not noticed many
people here wearing sneakers, but I often carry my favorite pair of black Vans anyway when leaving
for a trip- they’re light and match with many outfits. I also like taking my heeled, suede black booties
to dress up outfits as well. You never know when there might be a rain shower here, so carrying an
umbrella and investing in shoes that can endure water is important too. Going out, I opt to wear jeans
and crop top with some sneakers. People here do wear skirts and shimmery tops but not being able to
bring most of my closet with me to London has limited my options. This outfit serves me well,
however- I can get away with it in a more casual or a slightly fancier setting.

Accessories have been something that I have really enjoyed experimenting with while I’ve been here.
I have made countless trips to Primark to buy cheap statement earrings. I love using them to dress up a
casual sweater and jeans look or throwing them when I go out. Throwing big scarfs on over plain outfits
in peak winter also helped to stay warm and spice up whatever I was wearing. I bought a cabbie hat at
a local market and have had tons of fun experimenting with it while in Paris- I can’t wait to try to
incorporate it into outfits back at home. I also recently invested in a hair scarf- something I never would
have thought I could rock.

Fall Fashion Trends ~ Autumn Lookbook 2018

Warm. Cozy. A cup of apple cider. Colorful leaves scattered on the ground. An afternoon by the fireplace. This is what generally comes to mind when the word "fall" is thrown out there. Change that up a bit by throwing out "fall fashion". What comes to mind then? Plaid scarves. Tan-colored boots and tucked-in jeans. Maybe a hat and gloves too, depending on the level of cold.

Here are some cute looks/essentials for the fall that are more tailored towards 2018 trends but are essentially timeless for the coziest time of the year.

Plaid, Plaid, Plaid!
Plaid is timeless, it will forever remain a staple print for the autumn time. Take the bold and 90's approach and wear a plaid skirt and plaid blazer with a white shirt underneath and some nude pumps. Or even the addition of a simple plaid scarf can spice up any outfit with a fall vibe/print.

Lookin' Bomb in A Bomber
Bomber jackets are such an easy addition to any outfit. It adds a mysterious, bada$$ vibe to any outfit. Some ripped jeans, nice sneakers, and a plain graphic t-shirt is all you need to wear with a bomber jacket. And it works for both guys and girls as well. It's a must-have for any wardrobe because you can easily throw it on and it'll keep you warm!

Fall-ing In the Club
Fall also includes embarking on nights out in the city (even though this is more of a year-round thing, to be honest). Usually dressing fancy on warmer days involves cropped or cami tops paired with a bodycon skirt, but since it's a little colder it might be changed up a little bit. Long sleeve outfits are perfect for resisting the cold as well as stunting on the streets of the city.

How can we talk about fall fashion and forget Halloween?!! Take an interesting approach with costumes this year. If you're doing a group costumes with friends you can take a classic approach and be devils and angels. Or you can wear princess costumes and put on fake tattoos and blood, mess up your hair a little bit and smudge your makeup, and take mug shots: princess convicts. You can get really creative with these costumes. Couple costumes, individual costumes, group costumes, anything. Get creative this Halloween and make it extra spooky and fun!

HAHA! Harley Quinn and The Joker: baddest couple ever.

The perfect deck of cards...

Make sure you try out all these fashion ideas this fall season! Revamp your style and look absolutely runway ready in the chilly season.

FORM Presents: Annual Fashion Week

Avante-guarde. Chaotic. Inspiring. Vibrant. Revolutionary. These are just some words to describe Fashion Week. For some background, fashion week refers to women and menswear shows that happen bi-annually in February and September in the "Big 4" fashion capitals - New York, London, Milan, and Paris

From the 8th of February to the 16th of February, Fashion Week is coming to the concrete jungle -New York! Raf Simons, Tom Ford, Jeremy Scott, Yuna Yang, Alexander Wang, and many more high profile designers will be taking to the runway to showcase their designs for the Fall/Winter 2018 season. I am definitely going to be checking Instagram and Snapchat (life hack: a front-row view of shows via Kim Kardashian's snapchat story) to see all the trends from this season. NYFW is truly an exciting week and since we can't be in the city to witness the glam, we decided to bring our very own Fashion Week to New Brunswick!
